Hm. Conversations I’ve had with insiders at Netflix are all about how any menu system can’t remotely compete with linear TV - so many disadvantages - and that plenty of programmes and whole genres can only survive on a platform that doesn’t rely on an algorithmic / front page priority system.

I would also like to add Justin Johnson’s priceless Brian Blessed story from the recording of the Cutaway Comics bonus commentary. BB is merrily TALKING when he stops dead- “OH SHIT! I FORGOT KENNETH BRANAGH’S COMING TO TEA!” Followed by a confused Sir Kenneth looming into view on the webcam…

Episode Number Nine @episodenumbernine.bsky.social · 05/10/2026

In a few weeks we'll be launching our new podcast where we look at British sitcoms using their 9th episode as the starting point. A curious conceit perhaps, but by the 9th episode of any sitcom the 'sit' is generally established and the 'com' should have bedded in. Well that's the theory anyway!

Another from my young past, The Claws of Axos. Weird organic alien design, an angry Doctor, take that Mr Chinn, plus a manipulative Master.👍🏿 I like the locations with the freaky weather. Add eerie zappy aliens, with good kid scares, and action by HAVOC.👏🏿 Huzzah for the galactic yoyo & UNIT. ❤️❤️➕🟦 🛋️📺

I love the persistent idea that Daleks roll along on a big ball bearing, like giant Rolykins. Anyway, have a Trod (key in Vworp! Vworp! Volume 4).

Cutaway drawing showing the inside of a Trod robot (from the TV Comic Doctor Who comic strip) All components are items that would have been around in the mid-1960s, including a Van Der Graaf generator, a lava lamp, a large horseshoe magnet, a transistor radio, a car battery and so on. Art by me, Steven Flanagan.

It's The Best of the Rest of The Beatles challenge! This was good fun to do but something of a challenge and I'm still not sure I did it justice. So many good songs. It's interesting what we both crossed over on, what we didn't and what we might have missed. What would you include that we didn't?
