The goal is to apply a protective barrier over the damaged skin. The natural protective barrier on your lips that retains moisture is currently toast. With applying protection your cracks can heal and your skin and get back to normal.

If you don’t use a cpap device consider getting a little portable room humidifier to run at night. I live in Michigan and mine made a big difference with regard to not waking up as a desiccated husk.

Pharmacist here: apply plain vasaline, or cetaphil/cereve/eucerin products to your lips to help protect your lips and restore their natural barrier. Apply at night before bed too. For pain symptoms: a lip product with benzocaine and or menthol but use sparingly. Is there an eczema component?
