cheating, I don’t think challenges would have succeeded. Chain of custody for ballots was likely broken during evacuations. And it’s not likely a judge will appoint a winner or redo the vote. It would just be tossed. Even if 2024 was “stolen,” that’s basically the end result. 2/2

My guess in 2024 that his “secret” with Mike Johnson was to have enough meddling in swing states (threats to polling locations, actual cheating) to have results simply thrown out by the courts and throw the election into the House where the GOP hands it to Trump. Even with solid evidence of 1/

One of the reasons I stopped watching John Oliver was his repeated joke about Biden using obsolete tech to concede to Trump. That and his breathless reporting on Tara Reade that he absolutely never followed up on after she was discredited.

Bus driver shortages here mean the district has been slowly increasing the distance before students qualify for bussing. That means lots of students are now required to walk or bike in the mornings. Lots of parents still drop their kids off but that is an added task for already-strained parents.

There is a moment at the very very end of Abdul El-Sayed's podcast with Ezra Klein (book recommendation section) where he talks about the idea of "speaking truth to pain" and this will be staying with me for an extremely long time. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/25/o...
But there’s also something about truth to pain. We talk a lot about truth to power, but I think it’s actually a lot harder to speak truth to pain. I say that as someone who went to medical school, realizing that in a lot of our politics right now, we’ve got to get a lot better at speaking truth to pain if we’re going to get through some of these challenges that we have.

What does “truth to pain” mean?

It’s one thing to look power in the eye and say: You’re wrong about this. But there’s a way in which pain is very difficult to reason with. Because when somebody is in their pain, they’re in their trauma. They see that pain, and they may not see what’s causing it.

I remember just very explicitly being in a trauma ward with a gunshot wound patient and watching this big guy with his hand on his gunshot wound. All the folks are trying to pull his hand off his pain, that point of his gunshot wound, this clear vulnerability.

And this emergency room doctor had the presence of mind to be like: Everyone, stop. And she looks him in the eyes, and she’s like: I get that really hurts, and I’m so sorry that you’re here. You don’t want to be here. We don’t want you to be here. But if you don’t let us fix this, you could die. So I’m going to take your hand, and I’m going to move it off, OK? Because I need to get there so that you can live.

She was speaking truth to pain. He understands he’s at the hospital, he needs care, but he also doesn’t want anybody to touch the wound. Which is a natural thing. And I think it is a really great metaphor for how we think about a lot of these challenges we talked about today.

Democrats stopped the bill because it’s basically a voluntary, “It would be nice if you did this,” sort of regulation. It was a toothless way for Jon Husted (OH) to try to distance himself from data centers.

That’s great messaging for the GOP but maybe the Dems can actually argue that we need real restraints not symbolic gestures.

anxioudacity.bsky.social @anxioudacity.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
So this was introduced by Ohio Senator Husted (running against Sherrod Brown) who is trying to distance himself from data centers. It looks like a move to get a political win without actually applying any real rules. Win-win for the GOP. Dems killed the bill because it was useless.

I could be wrong but my understanding of the bill is that it’s the type of thing that establishes a committee to assess the possibility of this. Am I wrong?

human rights should be up to majority rule. Trans rights are human rights. Plain and simple. We support that from the bottom-up by stopping people from misgendering and deadnaming and using slurs casually. That’s the most powerful tool we have. 3/3

no one blinks when someone accepts trans rights. Dems ran against same-sex marriage as recently as 2008 and by 2012 it was mostly anathema in the party. While there’s been backsliding to an extent, protecting Obergefell is still the mainstream. To be totally clear: I do not believe anyone’s 2/

If NFL owners want to censor who performs in stadiums, they shouldn't ask taxpayers to help build them. You can't take public subsidies for stadiums then use them as your personal editorial board. Pay for it all out of your own pocket and hold as many Kid Rock concerts as you want to.

3 panel comic titled “Logging into Bluesky”

Panel 1:
A Pink Guy bursts into Bluesky wearing a t-shirt that says “Fun”. His little face looks so happy.

Panel 2:
Six Bluesky users turn to look at the Pink Guy. They all look dour and angry because they have been overdosing on the discourse. Having the current state of the world mainlined into their veins for 22 hours a day has left them real grumpy.

Panel 3:
Pink Guy slowly removes his t-shirt and quietly says “sorry”. He won’t soon forget that Bluesky is the home of Serious Discussion. If he wants “Fun” maybe he should log into the Barney the Dinosaur forums.

I think when we talk about Hispanic people, there are a lot of people in that category that would probably be considered “white” outside of polling or ancestry. Hispanic is treated as a monolithic, minority group. I don’t think we can go by that in on-the-ground, real life term.
