As soon as you have 1 or more MPs your party leader must be one of them. If you’ve no MPs then you’re not a political party in Parliament, so who cares who your leader is (or whether you’re a wannabe political party or a chess club)?

It’s a bit farcical to have a political party led by someone who isn’t actually an MP.

Tory tax break for banks has cost UK public purse £6bn, says TUC
Exclusive: Chancellor urged to reverse Rishi Sunak’s tax surcharge cuts to claw back billions in lost revenue * Business live – latest updates Tax cuts for big banks have deprived the UK government of £6bn in revenues, according to campaigners, who are calling on the chancellor, John Healey, to increase taxes and force lenders to pay their “fair share” in the upcoming budget. Calculations by the Trades Union Congress (TUC), which represents unions with more than 5.3 million members across England and Wales, shows that the public purse is billions of pounds worse off as a result of tax cuts introduced under the Tory chancellor Rishi Sunak in 2023. "before the referendum we were all told our place in the single market wasn't under threat" Many of the promises made were, on examination, implausible and contradictory. Sadly so many fell for "there are simple solutions to complex problems" schtick. I'm not sure many have learned the lesson.

100% agree but before the referendum we were all told our place in the single market wasn't under threat and we'd have the exact same benefits. The whole country was lied to, unfortunately some people were taken in.

For 14yrs, the Tories cratered our economy, added thousands to our cost of living, melted down public services and brexited us into decades of eye-watering expense and lost opportunity. That’s still their plan. With tax breaks for the super rich paid for by welfare cuts. So what TF is this headline?
