there's still this idea among some ai boosters that ai in law is gonna level the playing field for poor people/give them better access to law but so far it's been like: your state appointed attorney will shit out the worst possible ai-generated bullshit and you'll rot in prison
“It's little comfort to know that my stupidity is what brings us together this afternoon,” New Mexico attorney Stephen D. Aarons said in a hearing last month before five judges. He “assumed” ChatGPT would generate a “bulletproof summary of proceedings.” Instead, ChatGPT generated false testimony from “wholly fabricated witnesses,” according to an order of direct contempt from the New Mexico Supreme Court. Aarons was representing a man who was found guilty of killing his wife earlier this year; Aarons said he hadn’t told his client directly that he was caught using ChatGPT on the case because he’s currently serving life in prison.

That is not insignificant! You can't just expect people to notice, you got to shout what you're doing from the rooftops too.

Sorry, I'm extra bitchy this afternoon after having spent 1.5 days futzing with the latest iteration of Apple Music (not streaming) so Wendy can listen to a small portion of the digitalized music we have in our library. (actually it had more to do with getting Angine de Poitrine on her iPad.)

I wish Eventide was on Bluesky cause I’d bitch how I’ve owned & used the H910 Harmonizer for decades (and even owned a hardware 910 at one time in my life) and yes, of course I’d like a free H910 t-shirt - but I’m not going to buy the plug again just to get one, and I’m not paying $40, either 🤬

A question: If the ad the orange turd is running on Fox and others is truly being done with public funds - and thus making this act theft of taxpayer money - doesn't that make _anybody_ taking said funds in exchange for air-time an accessory after the fact? 🤔 I'll take my answer off-air, please. ☎️

fair warning to folks i'm supposed to be conversing with tonight: ummm, my shipment of coffee just arrived also note: I don't have time for dinky little espresso cups 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
A 5 pound bag of Ruta Maya Organic Coffee; the text on the bag reads:

"SHADE-GROWN. WHOLE BEAN

THESE ARE THE FINEST ARABICA BEANS, SHADE-GROWN BY A COOPERATIVE OF 1,500 FARMERS IN THE HIGHLANDS OF CHIAPAS, MEXICO - THE LAND OF THE MODERN MAYA. THE GREEN COFFEE BEANS ARE IMPORTED TO TEXAS WHERE THEY ARE CUSTOM ROASTED AND PACKED DAILY."Note that this bag is 5 pounds of Espresso Roast Coffee.

I don't use small cups.

Another stunner from JWST—this time part of a *much* larger scene I'll post later. This portion is made up of stars and protostars in a cluster about 1,000 lightyears from Earth. The bright, multi-point features are nearby stars. The smaller features in the background are other galaxies.
From the source: "A star-forming nebula that contains young stars called protostars. Two of these protostars are shooting out long jets that are colliding with the nebula, creating glowing, colourful outflows. A few other protostars create orange and red areas in the nebula. Most of the image is covered by blue gas, with brighter areas, denser clouds and dark gaps; the bottom-left corner contains greenish-yellow gas."

Nobody expects Oracle/Skydance to fullfill anything from the settlement. Not the AGs, not Newsom. That's the amazing thing. All corporate and regulatory sentiment is now pure ass-covering that nobody on any side believes, but which sounds just 'real' enough to be something you can pretend to believe
