How much could my school district save if they switched from diesel powered school buses to BEV buses? It works out to somewhere between $5,000 to $9,000 per vehicle or $265,000 to $522,000 per year depending on performance, fuel costs, and fleet size assuming 12,000 miles driven per year. 🧪🔌💡☀️💨💧🔋
A BlueBird diesel school bus get 7 to 10 MPG, while a BlueBird BEV school bus gets 0.72 to 0.66 miles/kWh or 24.3 to 22.3 eMPG. For diesel at $6.67/ US gallon and electricity at $0.159 the diesel buses costs 66.7 to 95.3 cent/mile to drive while the BEV school bus would cost 22.1 to 24.1 cents/mile to dive. That translates into costs of $8,002 to $11,432 for diesel or $2,650 to $2,891 for the electric buses assuming 12,000 miles driving.

These actions (1) should be the first steps in seaweed forest conservation and can lead to prevention of future loss in intact areas or passive restoration in degraded areas (2). In cases where the outcome following step 1 is no recovery, additional active restoration interventions such as seeding, grazer control, or transplanting may be necessary (3).
