BTW DoubleTree Hotel [once the Coach House Inn] a friend walking through,catching up on memories about 4+ weeks ago,as he passed into the lobby the auto doors opened, he looked&there was a bear looking in.Bear walked away,friend told mngr he might check 4 unwanted guests! 2many auto doors in places.

I did my first short paddle in the Bay this year. Found my old kayak among the dinghies stacked at the edge of the beach and even found the paddle. It was soooo nice!!

Watching tourists flock to our island today, visiting the park and lakes and the seashore and keeping our restaurants busy. Kingfishers are noisily dive bombing.The sunshine makes everyone smile. Flying into Vancouver, it was blindingly sunny in the plane. Below, Metro Vancouver is covered in a thick fog layer, with some higher places and bridges peeking through.

New Year’s Day hike to a favourite spot, Dorman Point. Sounds were muffled by the fog. Close by, the mosses were incredibly vibrant. I need to do that hike more often, for the views but also great cardio exercise.

Visiting the Christmas craft fair at our local school, I found the youth crafters are the sweetest! I bought a little Christmas tree, cut and folded from paper. The paper bag offered to transport my treasure had a riddle hand written on it, with the answer on the bottom of the bag!

Winter cycling in Oulu, Finland, the fourth most northern city in the world, is possible with planned infrastructure and bike route clearing before clearing roads. Flat landscape and snow are an advantage over our hilly and narrow roads and often merciless rain, despite mostly mild temperatures.

Remembering my mother who died this day 38 years ago. In this photo she was wearing her Sunday dress, which was still her Sunday dress after I was born more than ten years later. It had a yellow pattern with velvet purple shoulder patches. I still remember the feeling of that dress.
