@mrjamesob.bsky.social @lbc.co.uk You're talking about the increased incidence of cancer. This is due to inequality, NHS that is struggling & the ongoing pandemic of covid wh weakens the immune system, activates dormant viruses & increases risk of a whole host of diseases & conditions incl cancer

Reuters got some of the IPO docs. Anthropic is a total dog of a company. Spent $12.6bn to make $4.6bn in revenue in 2025, $7.33bn of which was compute costs. Operating loss of $8bn. Losses getting worse year over year. Amazing stuff www.reuters.com/business/fin...
Summary
Companies
• Anthropic IPO could value the company at more than $2
trillion
• Anthropic lost $42 billion in 2025
• Al lab spent $7.33 billion on compute and infrastructure last year
• Operating loss widened to $8.06 billion in 2025 from $2.98 billion in 2024
• Execs, industry analysts have expressed concerns over harms of Al tech
Sept 28 (Reuters) - Anthropic is making a massive bet that Al will transform the global economy more profoundly than industrialization, electricity and the internet, according to its IPO prospectus seen by Reuters.
But the cost to get there will be staggering. Anthropic reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in coming year, according to the
prospectus.

Exactly. The main reason his coup was successful is because he is better at communicating and understands politics a lot better. Let's see if he can translate the comms into actions, which so far he has been unable to do, granted he has only been in 3 months

If we don't do something to stop and then mitigate the effects of climate change, then at that point in time we will be engaged in climate wars over access to water and food, with people fleeing uninhabitable land

UK pet owners risk being ripped off by private equity firms as vet ownership rules change. CMA says vet firms don't need to disclose their ultimate owners. Why not? Why is ownership by PE to be obscured? Pet owners pay 16.6% more on average at large vet groups than at independent practices.

Has there ever been a looming disaster that everyone can see coming that the world’s politicians have done less to protect us from? Every £1 not spent on protecting us from climate change will cost us £10 in five years, £100 in ten years… Yet some political parties are advocating doing nothing.

A very good point as usual from @jamesbowes01.bsky.social The main objective of Mahmood's proposals was always to kick out care workers (as she has more or less said). That was always an economically, politically and morally bankrupt policy. Without it, the whole package falls apart.
