“You don’t strike me as the ‘have kids’ kind of guy. Or maybe I am mistaken.” His eyes widen as he starting stumbling on his words , “Sorry, that sounded awful. I’m not saying you would be a bad dad or anything and if you want kids, that’s super cool. You just never seemed like the type to want kids. But, I guess that would have changed in the last six years…” He is rambling and I find myself with a small smile on my face despite myself.

“Nah, you aren’t wrong. Child-Free by choice. I am a pretty good uncle, but I don’t think I want to have little me’s running around and making the same mistakes I made. Mom always said I was a terror in my toddler years, she said when I have kids they will pay me back in spades.” I let out a genuine laugh, which catches me off guard, “I think she is disappointed I decided not to have children, because now I won’t feel the terrible two’s like she did.”

He rolls his eyes, “You were a terror even when you were a teenager.” The smile on his face is subtle but I know he is teasing me, “It’s probably a good thing you don’t have children, you would age twenty years in the span of five years.”

I reach over and playfully shove him, “Fuck you, Daelan. I was a god damn gem. If I was so bad, why did we spend so much time together?” I give him a knowing look, a sly smile resting on my lips.

Before I can even respond, he is already booking it through the airport. I let out a surprised, joyful laugh as I started jogging to catch up with him, “Hey! No fair. You cheated.” I weave through the crowds, slipping in between people and service animals, a stupid grin on my face as I laugh. I trail behind him a bit as we get to our destination gate. I’m panting softly, the stupid, boyish grin not leaving my face. “You didn’t win fair and square, asshole.”

He lets out this breathless laugh, a smile lighting up his whole face, “You were the one in track and field, what happened to your record-breaking speed, Daxton? Old age catching up with you?”

“Old age!?” I act mock offended. “I’ll have you know I haven’t even reached my prime yet.” I playfully nudge him as he walks to the counter, handing the gate attendant his boarding pass. I follow suit before heading into the plane with him. We find our seats, business-class again, and sit down. “Okay, you said you also brought Maximum Overdrive, don’t think I forgot, we are definitely watching that.”

More yelling. More scared horses. Even some terrified sheep in the distance. Many steps pummeling the ground to her right, a few more to the left and that was where she felt the vibrations of trampling hooves. They must have a huge amount of cavalry. It was more a war group than a raiding party.

A gust of air pushed at her back, something shuffled inside the tent and Alitzah started to turn around to face what had entered. A futile attempt but she couldn’t help but try. There was no more movement but there were noises. Something cracked. And then another crack. Sharp, quick noises in rapid succession. As if someone was cracking their knuckles repeatedly. Something whined, long and droning, as if it were about to explode when it reached the right pitch and then, suddenly, it dropped. The noise became a voice; firm and awkwardly polite.

“Ten fingers, ten toes. Excellent. Alitzah, I’m going to untie you and then you will give me your cloak. After that, you can take off your blindfold.”

This is probably the best descriptor of my version of Lucifer. He didn't make evil. He made the "Seven Sins" but it is Pride to think YOU can make plants grow, Violence to till the soil, Gluttony to reap the harvest, etc. No one even told him why he was imprisoned.
