A reminder, as polls open in Wisconsin: Wisconsin has same-day voter registration. So, if you haven’t registered or need to re-register, you can do so at your polling place (with ID and proof of residence) TODAY. Every state should do this. It’s great that Wisconsin does this. Go vote.

If it was true that you don’t “arrive” at the country until you enter, Europe and Australia and the US wouldn’t have spent the past three decades trying to prevent migrants from reaching the border. This is just fully making up international law. Even Australia didn’t try to make this argument!

The upshot of this decision is that once it goes into effect, hundreds of thousands of people who have been living and working legally in the United States, some for many years, and many who entered completely legally, will lose their work permits and deportation protections.

There are empty shelter beds while families with kids are sleeping outside, because the governor added new eligibility requirements that can be time consuming and difficult to document (even if you’re eligible). Now they want to cut more beds. Again, kids are sleeping outside.

Essentially, what stops abductions is when crowds outnumber the masked kidnappers. When people aggressively follow ICE with whistles and horns, crowds are ready to show up. If they show up fast enough, ICE leaves and a family is not broken. (People here understand the stakes).
