Trump had raised Zacharia's name on several occasions before, a source close to the president said, and Wiles often steered the conversation toward Jennings and other candidates she viewed as loyal to her.

'Wiles wants people she can control,' another said. 'This is seen as one of many recent microaggressions of Donald to Susie. He is taking back control, and it is starting to feel more like the first term.'
