Americans are pissed about fuel prices for their cars: apparently it might be the tipping point for their mid-term voting intentions. When conversions are applied (US gallon to litre; $ to £) they still pay about half for their unleaded (90p/litre) compared with us (£1.75). Go figure!

How, in any civilised society, can it be right for families to wait over 7.5 years for an inquest into their loved ones’ killings? My wife completed her independent review of the care of this killer 4 years ago… and she felt she had been delayed. Triple killers' victims died of head injuries

Andy Burnham… I didn’t like how he came to power but have been reasonably impressed with his 1st few weeks. But, the Great North Run: - doing it whilst PM - in <2 hrs - immediately doing an interview afterwards - and genuine emotion getting his medal from Sir Brendan - and for a great cause. 👏👏👏

Someone I know applied for a delivery job with Evri. She was told - use your own car, fuel & insurance….and we’ll pay you £60 to deliver 100 parcels. To get minimum wage that means a delivery every 2’57”. Is that even possible? If not, is it legal to pay that little?

Earlier, our Ukrainian guest came downstairs in tears. She’d just had a phone call telling her her uncle (and 20 others) was killed yesterday in a battle with Russians. This is the 5th such phone call she’s had in the 18 months she’s lived with us. I can’t comprehend what she must be feeling.
