It's such a bizarre framing. Wars are not randomly occuring events. Putin and Trump's wars are hitting people in the UK.

As a precedent, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act did just that and resulted in, in my experience, insane levels of financial compliance measures.

It seems every month that Ukraine finds a new way to innovate. And also to remind us how vulnerable we are in turn. Ukraine, again, doing all Europe a favour by taking out the Russian bots that contaminate society in the west.

Is this a new found clarity? My impression has been that authorities have been spectacularly unwilling to grapple with this - and the implications.

Could someone remind me why he would swap a massive majority for the prospect of weeks of negotiating with the LDs? Having said that, the disarray in everyone else plus a few points improvement could give him a bigger majority...

Trump sanctions on the ICC and agreeing to subsidise Russia's war is just as damaging to Europe as anything in Putin's hybrid war.

The graphic used in this article is appalling. Why on earth would you not show the GE24 independent when the lack of said independent was obviously the source of most of the Green gain? It is very LibDem. There. I said it.

And only losing 4% vote share. Very good result.

That is a good result for us. Only losing 4% from the GE while not ideal is far better than most by-elections.

Sky's discussion on turnout in Holborn & St Pancreas should perhaps mention that the 54% turnout in the GE was low. UK average was 60%.

Andy Croy @andycroy.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Yes. To so that one would have to know the law well enough to tell Electoral Services that you hadn't received your ballot paper rather than just changing your mind. And if you knew that you would also know you were breaking the law. Definitely fishy.

Andy Croy @andycroy.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
Sky's Craig all over the place. "We shouldn't make predictions on turnout before we know" like it's some sort of sacred law. Immediately regurgitates predictions on the result.

I thought that was wrong. To be fair he was reporting what he said an MP had said a voter had told him. But both MP and Craig should have run it through their bullshit filter.

A little bit of political trivia for you as voters head to the polls in the Holborn & St Pancras by-election. Camden council, where the seat is located, has proved to be quite the political hothouse, featuring 3 future Grn leaders, 1 future UKIP leader, 6 future Con MPs & 5 future Lab MPs...1/?

My dad video called me on WhatsApp from Canada. He was born in 1938. He used the call to compare British army torturing in Aden in the mid 1960s to his recent 4 day corridor stay in a Canadian hospital. Ts just like mince. No wonder they think Kemi is their brightest and best.

To be fair,he could be correct on this while she could be simultaneously hopeless. It would go some way towards explaining their 18% in the polls, even when faced by a very unpopular prime minister.

The difference between the performance of immigrants in England and Western Europe is staggering. (20 pts equals a year of learning.) I looked at this in detail in the post - it can't be explained away by language or relative advantage of different immigrant communities. There is a policy factor.
