You know Simon Stevens, who was in charge of NHS England between 2014-2021, as we saw the service decimated by ‘austerity’ and ‘efficiency savings’, and who now has been given a place in the House of Lords? He was the president of UnitedHealth Group’s global health division just before his NHS job.

The only people who benefit from NHS privatisation are the private company shareholders. Private companies treat the NHS like a cash cow. They train barely any staff. They mostly don’t provide emergency services. They often cherry pick easy cases+ leave complex cases to the NHS. It needs to stop.🚨🚨🚨

How privatisation works (and Thames Water is just the latest example). 1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company. 2. In doing so, it creates a monopoly. 🧵
