After an 8-week trial, I’m stepping down as CEO of @everydoctor.org.uk I’m proud to have offered my services for their next chapter and wanted to explain how we arrived at this decision. I sincerely wish them well and I’ll see you out there with the #SOSNHS coalition this autumn!

As an NHS doctor fighting for publicly funded and delivered healthcare for over a decade, I know firsthand that what happens on the ward is directly shaped by decisions made in Westminster. That's why I've long viewed healthcare advocacy as an essential extension of my patient care responsibilities, and I've been proud to collaborate with every major UK health campaign group to fight for our health service.
So when EveryDoctor invited me this spring to steer their 2.0 launch this September, following the departure of their founder, I was eager to step up for the cause. Eight weeks ago, I took on the CEO role while cutting my A&E shifts to half-time to stay rooted in clinical medicine. However, after an eight-week trial working hard behind the scenes to help build EveryDoctor 2.0, I have decided to step back as CEO.
I believed the organisation needed a fresh reboot in a number of key ways, but the Board and I ultimately had understandable differences of opinion on the path forward. That strategic misalignment, coupled with the operational strain my irregular A&E shift pattern placed on a small, remote team, made the role unsustainable in that form. Moreover, as a neurodivergent leader whose factory settings include real organisational and time management demands, juggling half-time A&E with executive duties simply required a different structure that was not possible. We have therefore agreed to part company so EveryDoctor can recruit a full-time leader with the much more predictable and regular schedule the organisation requires.
Ultimately, I'll view this experience as a 2-month consultancy for an organisation in transition and I'm proud to have stepped up to offer my honest outsider advice for their next chapter, and sincerely wish them every success.

I’m supporting the nationwide day of action calling on the richest to PAY UP. In 2024, UK billionaires added £35 million per day to their wealth. Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Council has an estimated funding gap of £17.2 million. The money is there - time to tax it fairly.
