Tim Curry had been doing poorly ever since he had a major stroke back in 2012. Amazingly, he still did the occasional VA work, voicing Auntie Whispers in 2014. Theres an ethereal frailness to her because of what he went through. He, like Dolly, was an amazing human being.

I think another lesson to take from the loss of both Dolly and Tim Curry is that neither of them took themselves seriously but they took the work dead serious that's the most important thing pour all of yourself into the craft but have fun and don't get an ego.

I would kill or die for Larry

A small operation in Oregon that hunts truffles with a trained dog has added an unpaid trainee. A cat named Larry accompanies the handler and the truffle dog into the woods every outing, works a patch of ground a little apart from them, and digs with tremendous confidence in places where there is nothing.
The handler says Larry has never found a truffle and shows no sign of understanding the assignment. He does not use scent the way the dog does and he does not respond when the dog makes a find.
He simply digs his own holes nearby and then inspects them. "He thinks he's on the team," the handler said. "He is emphatically not on the team."

The reality is that independent film for so long has been propped up by people who have reluctantly agreed to have their labour exploited in the unpromised hopes that it will lead to bigger and better things when in reality it rarely ever does. Only the above the line people benefit.

There's a conversation that needs to happen in the indie space about pay and volunteer labor. Many incredible indie projects cannot exist without free labor, but the artists involved are not guaranteed any of the shared success if the project blows up. Only what they were paid on the day.
