Anyone take Boomcycle, Reformcore, Barrecore, Triyoga (etc.) classes? Yesterday, all classes at every studio in Chelsea, Battersea, Hammersmith, Notting Hill, St Mary's Axe and elsewhere were cancelled. All sites and apps down. LOTS of people out of jobs. LOTS of clients out of pocket. 1/2

Walking down Du Cane Road in W12 and nearly hit head-on by a cyclist going at least 30mph on an electric bike, ON THE PAVEMENT. If he'd actually hit me, I'd probably be dead. Oh yeah, and he was looking at his phone. Wish I could say this was a new experience, but it really wasn't.

Anyway, Brian Eno said it best:
Whatever you now find weird, ugly, uncomfortable and nasty about a new medium will surely become its signature.
CD distortion, the jitteriness of digital video, the crap sound of 8-bit - all of these will be cherished and emulated as soon as they can be avoided. It's the sound of failure: so much modern art is the sound of things going out of control, of a medium pushing to its limits and breaking apart. The distorted guitar sound is the sound of something too loud for the medium supposed to carry it. The blues singer with the cracked voice is the sound of an emotional cry too powerful for the throat that releases it. The excitement of grainy film, of bleached-out black and white, is the excitement of witnessing events too momentous for the medium assigned to record them.

The 2012 retrospective at Tate Modern had films of her 'happenings'. One featured a bound, semi-clothed Black man curled on the floor as others (none Black) harassed and possibly struck him. It was disgusting, and all I could think was that if Kusama was a man, it would never have been shown.

This “skidding goat” vase was likely made in Iran c.3500 BCE. Similar jars were made at settlements in mountain valleys that connected Mesopotamia in the west to Iran.
An ancient vase decorated with lines and a 'skidding goat'.

A wonderful horse pyxis, a Greek container distinguished by miniature horse figures on its lid. The horses often served as decorative handles and, likely signalled prestige because keeping horses was expensive. Dating 750-725 BC, on display at Altes Museum, Berlin 📷 me
A horse pyxis displayed in a museum case: A low, round lidded terracotta container covered with dark geometric bands, zigzags, rosettes and animal scenes. Four stylised black horses stand in a row on the lid, their long necks rising above the vessel; larger decorated pottery jars are visible behind it.
