Our prototype NanoMoths are going out for field trials this week. Weighs just 6g including a 150 mAh Li-Ion battery and not much bigger than a micro SD card. Supports all the features of standard AudioMoth up to 192 kHz sampling rate.

The heat wave has provided a good test of our satellite-connected AudioMoth which uses an Arribada @arribada-i.bsky.social SMD Argos module to transmit live status information from anywhere on the planet.

Who said you can't look at the wildlife while hiking the #BlueMountainsPeakTrail. We were recording the temperature/ humidity, taking pictures of the animals encountered and used an audiomoth to records bats and frogs. The pictures & some sounds were uploaded to @inaturalist @AudioMoth

day 2 saw the completion of the alex’s audiomoth instalment, with 72 both near and away from beaver wetlands and control ponds, recording birds and bats mostly! also featuring a moose salt lick and a jump in the lake after some hard work

I spent my morning with colleagues in Biological Sciences installing AudioMoth detectors across the @royalholloway.bsky.social woodland. Over the next weeks these devices will be monitoring the impact of lighting levels on bat distribution 🦇

The tool was developed by utilising huge, diverse acoustic datasets - including data from our team out in Miami for my PhD, where it proved very effective at detecting motorboat noise from AudioMoth recordings 🚤🦈🪸

Assuming everything worked as anticipated, the ARU I put out yesterday has collected its first night of frog call recordings. And with that, my master's research data collection has begun!
