A fantastic couple days at the @beavertrust conference 2026! There were many engaging talks and workshops, some from our very own members. From genetics to wetlands, we heard from farmers to students and everyone in-between. Well done Beaver Trust! #BeaversAcrossBritain #BeaverConference2026

By analysing sediment samples of 49 beaver ponds at the Bamff Wildland estate in Perthshire, Emily found that the landscape is holding more carbon than if beavers weren’t present, due to their dams capturing water and sediment on an otherwise-drained site.

🦫Research on Britain’s beavers gave us lots to chew on at #BES2025 We heard from two ecologists at @stir.ac.uk about their research looking at how land use impacts beaver behaviour and an overlooked nature-based solution these recovering rodents could be providing. (video by Alice Turner)
