From a friend in Bloomington: Operation Metro Surge may be “over” but ICE has not left. They have been here this whole time, taking our neighbors. This week especially, ICE is incredibly active in Bloomington. ICE agents ambush people as they are arriving at work or stopping to get gas.

Let's all call Tom Emmer's office (202-225-2331 or 763-241-6848) to ask where he buys his groceries as we'd all like to find that ground beef he says costs $2 a pound. www.minnpost.com/fact-briefs/...

Does ground beef cost $2 per pound?
You'd have to time travel back to the early aughts to find such affordable cows.

The crop art exhibit is always one of the best things at the Fair, but gotta say, the crop artists completely outdid themselves this year, especially when it comes to certain events earlier this year.

For day 29 of the #SealeyChallenge, Linda Gregg's The Sacraments of Desire. This book was published 35 years ago, so times/attitudes have changed, but while there's a lot of beauty here, there's also a complete lack of awareness of the poet's own privilege, especially about the poverty of others.

Day 28 of the @SealeyChallenge: Happiness by Deborah Keenan. Lest you think this is a smiley-happy book, it's a more serious look at happiness than that and all the complicated ways people have of finding happiness in their lives, or not. Lovely work.

Day 24 of the #SealeyChallenge: Dream Barker by Jean Valentine. An early poem in this book, "For a Woman Dead at 30," led me to Google Valentine and learn she was a contemporary of Sylvia Plath. Which is probably why I think the poem below is very reminiscent of Plath's Daddy.
