Although it still feels pretty much like summer here, I had soup for lunch, so it's officially Autumn in my book.

Just had the induction tutorial for my next Chinese language module - excited to get stuck into the module materials! Less excited about having to do more blinking assignments. Bleurgh - a necessary evil, I guess.

It's very pleasing to me that today's work task involves searching Bridgeman Education for a nice image of a cup of tea and biscuits. It's surprisingly difficult. Might have to take the ideal pic myself.

Visited MOTE, the new Museum of the Environment in Ipswich last week. While I take issue with it calling itself a 'museum' (it really isn't), it has the potential to become an important gallery and cultural space in the town centre. Fab to get to see inside the original Ipswich Museum building!

come to the archive where you can look at historic doodles of a guy fighting two swans
An 18th century ledger showing payments and numbers in a column. In the centre of the page is a crude illustration of two large birds(?) with their tails going up in a spiral, one with spots, the other white. A figure smoking a pipe and wearing a hat and boots is grabbing one of them by the neck. There is a mysterious box next to him which looks a lot like a Looney Tunes style TNT detonator, though obviously that would be ahistorical given the perfectly sensible composition of the rest of the doodle.
