Was digging into this, the current stable seems all clear but if you're looking for a specific commit where it started (publicly), look around July 24th this year on their GitHub. Thankfully PPSSPP hasn't removed previous releases on their website, and they use GitHub artifacts for nightlies.

Apparently VGE hid the comment I left under his video. Here it is for anyone who wants to see it, as it seems to clearly bother him that someone wants to hold him even slightly responsible for the major damage he's been doing and continues to do this scene.

I've tried to keep an eye on decomp projects since 2020 and I found Video Game Esoterica recently because of that. I've never seen a more insecure channel that big before. Like his script has to be AI written on some level. You can HEAR him keyword stuffing out loud. And his delivery is terrible.

I also really love this infographic we did. The magazine archive is a collaborative effort. We've scanned thousands of magazines, but we're also relying on years of scanning work by the community and partnerships with the industry. It takes a village!

30% of our magazines were provided by Retromags. 33.4% were scanned by the Video Game History Foundation. Magazine publishers and staff provided another 10.8%. In declining order, other contributor groups are "Various Internet Archive users," CGW Museum, Out-of-Print Archive, and other community groups.
