When I was getting used to my CPAP, I listened to an audiobook to give me something else to focus on until I started trusting that I could breathe in it.

It's the Equinox...time again for me to remind you about the EquineOx: that mythopoetic, all-knowing horse/ox hybrid. Mysterious bringer of socks & other sundry goodies. A godling of the changing seasons. Friends: may the EquineOx bring you many blessing this day!
Meme. Painting of a pastoral scene with two people standing next to a horse and an ox. The ox, black with a white splot on its head, harnessed to a wagon full of hay, & cream-colored horse has a collar on, but is not attached to anything. Both animals are turned to face the two people.

One of them is a young man in a coat a wide-brimmed hat. He is sitting. Standing next to him is a young woman in a green skirt & salmon-colored jacket. Her hair is golden, she's staring at the young man. They are at the base of a rocky outcropping. The man is likely eating, because next to him is a small black & white dog who is *clearly* groaking.

In all, it looks like the man is telling a story to a rapt (if mixed) audience. All are listening while he spins a yarn about the time he slid a flounder under his headmaster's door, or about how he was the inspiration for the song "All About That Bass." Will he impress the girl? Or, at least, the ox? No.

Meme text reads:
"part horse part ox
ALL AWESOME"

If you're based in the UK, be aware that the eligibility for a Disabled Persons Railcard is expanding in September, and you might now be able to get one even if you couldn't before. www.disabledpersons-railcard.co.uk/eligibility-...
A screen shot from the Disabled Persons Railcard site. A green menu bar reads Disabled Persons Railcard. The body text reads: Phase 2, launching in September 2026, will further extend eligibility to disabilities and conditions that require professional health evidence and more detailed assessment, including some long-term or degenerative medical conditions, and neurodiversity where it has a substantial impact on a person's ability to travel by train.

One of the business arguments for not using genAI in indie games is that, if you do use it and people find out, a significant portion of your audience simply will not buy your shit. As a dev you have to ask yourself: is this worth permanently alienating a good chunk of my audience? Probably not!

(e.g. drink driving), what we can put in our bodies (e.g. drugs), how our bodies interact with others’ bodies (e.g. assault), and so on. Bodily autonomy is *always* contingent on not using one’s body to endanger others. Insisting that people not be disease vectors is no different. 2/2

Bodily autonomy is always socially contextual. There are laws and customs around what we must put on our bodies (e.g. clothes, seatbelts), where we excrete from our bodies (e.g. public urination), where we place our bodies (e.g. trespass), what we can do when certain things are in our bodies… 1/

Wrens are usually solitary birds but when it’s cold they will sometimes huddle together for warmth. Some people call this a ‘herd’ but technically it’s known as a ‘scene’. That’s because chilled wren should be ‘scene’ and not ‘herd’.

I’d written the meaning of “bailed up”, hence the tick, but left out the fact that *while* people were bailed up the bushrangers would rob them, because that’s separate to the meaning of “bail up” even though it’s the point of doing so 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 2/2

I was looking through the few old school books I still have from my childhood and found this classic example of autistic literalism. The question was “what does ‘bail up’ mean?” and I answered exactly that. My teacher’s note - “rob them?” - shows how I missed the point. 1/2
A photograph of answer 1 of a child’s school work, written in blue pen in messy cursive. The title is “Bushrangers”. The answer reads “Being “bailed up” meant to be shut in somebody’s home or a hotel or another building and not let the people in or out.” There is a red tick after the answer and the teacher has also written “rob them?” in red pen.

as a culture we have really given "ideas" way too much credit. ideas are a dime a dozen. they happen all the time. the magic is way more in the doing, and the doing's diminished stature is linked to lack of respect for labor and, more recently, skill and expertise.
