Meine Urgroßmutter hat im 1. Weltkrieg von einem befreundeten Maler ein Bild geschenkt bekommen mit eine Widmung auf der Rückseite. Das ist aber nicht Süterlin sondern evtl Steno?, damit der Urgroßvater das nicht lesen konnte. Kann das jemand entziffern? Gerne repost

Abstracts due 31 Aug. We'd love to hear from you!

As the existence of the trans and queer community is under constant and
increasing threat across the world – with alt-right political rhetoric in the West seeking to rupture solidarity for and within the global queer community – the work of the historian has never been more vital. Historians have long found solidarity and recognition of queer experiences and practices with individuals and groups of the past. In concert with the wealth of current research being produced in trans and queer medieval studies, this panel session responds to the urgency of this present moment. In the face of existential threats, we recognise the importance of finding community with one another, which includes understanding our community has a history. This panel session seeks not only to contribute to transtemporal and scholarly trans and queer community building, but to better understand what historical trans and queer communities and practices may have looked like – including the mechanisms and structures that attempted to preclude such community formations. Engaging with and making legible such histories constitutes an act of compassion both with historical actors and with living members of our community today. It also constitutes an act of resistance, by finding existence and continuity in community.
Presentations may address but are not limited to the following topics:
-Cultivating cross-temporal queer and trans community
-How trans and genderqueer experiences manifest in the Middle Ages
-Spaces in which queer/trans community could be manifested in the Middle Ages
-Communal failure or loss of community
-A failing or absence of a trans and queer community
-Texts, codes, etc. used in constituting queer and trans communities in the Middle Ages
-Methodologies available for talking about trans and queer communities

Historische Bildung ist auch, Menschen beizubringen, dass sie das, was sie im Kino sehen, nicht als Tatsachen verstehen dürfen. Dann hätte sich die ganze "historisch inkorrekt!!!"-Diskussion auch erledigt. Das ist einfach nicht die Aufgabe von Kino.

Twice a year, Hawai'i experiences a strange moment where the sun appears to be exactly overhead & anything that is completely vertical casts no shadow. Let's learn about Lāhainā Noon, subsolar points & 'Kau ka lā i ka lolo', meaning "the sun rests on the brains."

From a Reddit forum, a photo of a can of coconut milk with a blue label, papyrus text and a flip-top, on a sidewalk. It seems to hover because there's no visible shadow. The pavement is sort of unevenly colored, with bright spots, and the grass along it is green and lush.

Mal wieder eine Info zur #Sonnenfinsternis: Die findet bei uns am 12. August ja praktisch zeitgleich mit dem Sonnenuntergang statt. Und darauf folgt die Sternschnuppen-Nacht des Jahres! Es lohnt sich also, nach der Sonnenfinsternis noch länger wach zu bleiben, um die Perseiden zu bewundern.

The monster has a collar and is on a lead which is held by a woman who is not in the least perturbed that her pet has eaten a man. She is wearing a blue dress, yellow cloak and a white wimple. In the background are men holding cross bows, swords - they appear to have been in the middle of a battle but have stopped whilst the man is getting chomped on.

Achtung! Den Granatenblödsinn mit den Krankschreibungen haben sie sich nur ausgedacht, um von der Einführung sachgrundloser Befristung von Arbeitsverträgen für bis zu vier Jahre (!) abzulenken. Und Möglichkeit zu 6 x Wiederholung solcher Verträge. Das ist de facto das Ende des Kündigungsschutzes.
