Bridgerton having Benedict save a maid from being raped so we understand that he Sees Servants As People™ is bothering me more the longer I think about it. Because now I’m not thinking about Benedict. I’m thinking about all the maids who didn’t have a Bridgerton brother conveniently wandering by.

There’s a peer-reviewed study about what nonbinary people’s partners do that makes them feel affirmed, and it’s titled “I love you as both and I love you as neither.” My heart. 💜

it honestly feels like some BS to get praised for your "resilience" by people who could have made your life less difficult.

The most vital feminist work often happens in the communal, unsanctioned spaces where the institutional archives refuse to look. Who are the thinkers fueling your work today that mainstream academia ignores?

Becoming obsessed with the overlap between theatre, gender, and disability because sooo much of social life is just: hit your mark, say the line right, don’t let anyone see the labor.

It is truly incredible how some of these male leftists who correctly criticize the police and court system will turn around and say a rape allegation can’t be taken seriously unless it passes through the cops and courts

I don’t have a grand thesis here yet, but I do think a lot of women’s anger is just pattern recognition that other people benefit from calling irrational.

Asking disabled people to do paperwork to prove they’re too disabled to do paperwork will never not be funny in the most depressing way. Who are you talking to? 😭

You all should ask yourselves why the Therapy fields continue to enable applied behavior analysis when autistic people have been asking people to get rid of it for years. It’s because the psychology field and other types of therapy fields are all rooted in ableism.

The thing about ableism is that it wants disabled people endlessly adaptable and institutions barely inconvenienced.

The disability binary is so flimsy. People love to imagine “disabled” as a fixed category over there somewhere, instead of a political and material reality that many people move in and out of, toward, or closer to across a lifetime.

Disability is not workplace misconduct, but many workplaces treat it like it is. So no, I would never judge someone for choosing not to disclose their disability to a job.

A lot of disability discourse still assumes the goal is to get as close as possible to nondisabled productivity. That's why I often turn to crip theory from folks like Sami Schalk (and why it matters so much to me).

The best way to support LGBTQ people during Pride Month is to stop treating Pride like a seasonal aesthetic and start treating queer liberation like a year-round responsibility.

I wish people understood how much invisible labor goes into being chronically ill. Before I can write, create, submit, publish, teach, call or show up, I first have to manage a body that is constantly demanding care.

Being disabled in the workplace means I’m often managing two jobs at once. Both the actual work & the constant ambient task of deciding how much dignity I have the energy to defend today.

Supporting LGBTQ people during Pride can look very unglamorous. Queer people need practical support more than rainbow branding. We need housing. We need safety. We need healthcare. (And we need it 365 days a year).
