We have a super awesome member who i knew would be really great at it so I had to resign, insist I was resigning whether someone stepped up or not, and then agree to be VP but i did it!

Well before AIM, back when we used lumber for email (elm & pine), there was real-time chat on unix that got my typing speeds super-maxed when my BFF studied abroad. 15 hour time difference to Australia? It was college, what was ‘sleep’?

I don't know how this logistically would work but if I were still teaching K-12 computer skills, I would allow my students to IM during class as long as they were typing on QWERTY. Mavis Beacon + AIM means these fingers are lightning fast, I feel bad zoomers didn't get the same opportunity to learn.

The closer we get, the more accurate it will be, but most outlets have the same rough timing. There will be factors like speed at rainfall, etc that will make a huge difference. I would keep an eye on the national hurricane center products as best you can interpret them directly.

Ideal for balloon fiesta if I’m not mistaken is like tiny drizzles between ascensions and glows that don’t cause much wind? But I could be wrong about that

Althea 🚌🚏⛅️ @alymay.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

We’re getting most of our annual rainfall in one month. I’m worried we are going to lose much of it to runoff. If it were slower and steadier, we’d be doing a better job of recharging the aquifer, but I’ll take any rain we can get up to flood conditions and then I pray our arroyos are up to the task

What if every city that declared a #ClimateEmergency actually acted like it’s an emergency? What if every city that committed to #VisionZero actually acted like they meant it, prioritizing human lives in decision-making? What if every city’s budget actually reflect their approved plans & visions?

Giving people from Tuscon a tour of the ABQ bus system later, do I make a joke thanking them for bringing them the moisture or a comment in jest that it does this all the time and they should take frog vacations here?

Althea 🚌🚏⛅️ @alymay.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Just a tiny reminder to Albuquerque that it’s ok to drive a tiny bit slower in heavy rain and flooding conditions than you do the other 364 days a year, especially when passing a pedestrian who doesn’t want to be splashed. Turn around, don’t drown. Fly low and slow.

Each team has their own “whistle language” to communicate when to stop on the blind reverse stop, so it’s been fun to see which are the most effective.

If you don’t want spoilers mute this thread because Istanbul is doing amazing right now, nothing but impressed. This is a team sport btw, one person behind the wheel, the other has to take and give direction at various points, like blowing a whistle for a blind stop, moving a mermaid standee, etc
