Hey y'all, wanna know what a disgruntled baby owl looks like? Well, someone opened the refrigerator near Beans. This is his disgruntled face. Ruffled is a good word here. #BakedBeansOwl #Owl #Owls #Zoo #screechowl

Beans standing on a leather glove. He is quite ruffled. His ear feathers (did you know owls have movable ear feathers?) are sticking straight up and the feathers on his face between his eyes and around his beak are also sticking straight out, long enough that it's kind of hard to see his beak. He's staring intently at something to the right of the camera. He clutches a small piece of meat in one claw.

A view of my laptop on a fairly uncrowded skytrain. My laptop has a pretty blue sky photo of a green grassy field on the desktop. A few people are sitting in the distance down the traincar, and there are lots of yellow poles for standing train riders to grab onto.

A picture of a cool piece of very complicated chemistry equipment. It's a metal cylinder with a lot of tubes. There's a lot of other complicated, interesting-looking chemistry stuff in the background in the lab.

A ridiculously gorgeous view over a garden with shaped shrubs toward the bright blue ocean and distant snow-covered mountains, with the bright blue sky above.

Oh this is interesting: Prime Minister Mark Carney just had a call with Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado

Prime Minister Carney speaks with María Corina Machado
January 4, 2026
Ottawa, Ontario

Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, spoke with Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado.

The Prime Minister and Ms. Machado condemned Nicolás Maduro’s brutally oppressive, criminal, and illegitimate regime, which repressed the Venezuelan people and persecuted dissenters. Prime Minister Carney thanked Ms. Machado for her resolute voice on behalf of the Venezuelan people. They underscored the importance of seizing this opportunity for freedom, democracy, peace, and prosperity in Venezuela.

Prime Minister Carney affirmed Canada’s steadfast support for a peaceful, negotiated, and Venezuelan-led transition process that promotes stability and respects the democratic will of the Venezuelan people. He emphasised that such a process must be anchored in the Venezuelan people’s sovereign right to decide and build their own future in a peaceful and democratic society.

Prime Minister Carney agreed to remain in contact with Ms. Machado and international partners.
