It wouldn't surprise me if protocols have changed, though--it's been well over a decade since I went through the process. :')

Nope! I never took it. To drive, you take a written exam (booklet provided by DMV) to earn your "learner's permit" to practice driving with another adult in the vehicle (this would be the teacher, but outside that, it's an adult relative). After 6 months, you then take the practical driving test.

Gonna be honest, I just assumed Driver's Ed was only available to teenagers, but I guess not! (I got my license in my twenties with no D.E.)

I mean the easy explanation this person has a teenager and got married later in life (or re-married), but uh...maybe rethink having BOTH stickers on the vehicle...

Car in the parking lot earlier today had a "Just Married" sticker on their window right above a "Student Driver" one...

I wanted to take this time to share my appreciation for the great Maddie Blaustein, yesterday was her Birthday and she would've turned 66. If you didn't know, Maddie Blaustein was a intersex trans voice actress and she's best remembered as the voice of Meowth In Pokémon. (4Kids) 🏳️‍⚧️🧵 #maddieblaustein

Being trans is a lot like Gundam. You're thrust to the front line of a war you didn't make. Random adults want to kill you. Char is there.

Day 9: Favorite OST Cover I haven't actually listened to any Trails covers, so instead, I'll pick my favorite of the Super Arrange tracks. Firm Strength, baby!! I love how the lone piano notes and slow build compared to the original's highlight how much our view of this character has changed.

It's also a massive disservice to the female characters. Their lives don't *entirely* revolve around Lloyd and Rean, but it's still a significant factor in their lives, and the games can never explore them in detail, lest the veil of player choice risk unravelling. It's frustrating.

The Kimono Gallery @roger1952.bsky.social · 08/10/2026

Traditional Okinawa dance. The kimonos here are very different than in the main Japanese islands to the north. This performance captures the distinct cultural lineage of Ryūkyū Buyō (classical Okinawan dance), a courtly art form nurtured under the sovereign Ryukyu Kingdom from the 15th thru 19th c

Poised in deliberate, fluid motion upon a sun-dappled courtyard path, a classical Ryukyuan dancer performs Yotsudake, her body draped in a radiant, golden-yellow bingata robe patterned with cascading tropical flora, waves, and cloud scrolls. She wears the iconic hanagasa—a monumental, flower-shaped headpiece constructed with overlapping crimson petals rimmed in brilliant cobalt blue wave motifs, echoing the bloom of a hibiscus or lotus floating over the sea. Unbound by the heavy, constricting obi sashes of mainland Honshu, her kimono flows with uninhibited maritime freedom, its wide sleeves lined in shocking scarlet silk that flashes with every turn of her wrists. In her hands, she clicks small, tassel-adorned bamboo castanets (yotsudake), anchoring her graceful steps in a precise, hypnotic rhythm. The scene radiates a vivid sensory atmosphere: the sharp, metallic-like clack-clack of polished bamboo echoing through warm coastal air, the gentle rustle of starch-finished silk and ramie fibers, the faint, salty tang of a Pacific breeze mingling with garden fragrance, and the dazzling intensity of southern sunlight illuminating saturated, pigment-dyed textile motifs.
ormed at the crossroads of East Asian maritime trade routes, Ryukyuan court culture synthesized artistic influences from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia to forge a unique aesthetic identity. The dance Yotsudake was historically showcased during grand state banquets (ukawansen) held at Shuri Castle to entertain visiting Chinese imperial envoys (sapposhi). The dancer’s brilliant yellow robe showcases bingata, Okinawa's premier stencil-dyeing technique where mineral pigments and plant dyes are applied over rice-paste resists; during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, rich yellow grounds were strictly reserved for the royal family and high nobility.
