We are having our harvest festival this Sunday 4 October. Non-perishable food gifts would be most welcome at this service or at Archbishop Courtenay School on Wednesday 7 October.

Slightly dramatic scenes outside @allsaintsmaidstone.bsky.social's cafe this morning, as we discovered half a tree has fallen down, laying waste to trees, bee hives and tombstones. @maidstonebc.bsky.social aware though, and Things, I gather, are In Hand.

My favourite Annunciation image is the big East Window at St Andrew’s church at Wickhambreaux, east of Canterbury, in Kent. It’s by Arild Rozenkrantz, and from 1896. The colours and the details are just sumptuous.

Following her Confirmation of Election at St Paul’s on Wednesday 28 January, Sarah Mullally’s name was added to our plaque that lists every previous holder of the office. The whole process took Senior Stonemason Benn around 3 days to complete - from design, to carving, to filling and finishing.

Another Carracci Lamentation in stained glass. This time by James Powell & Sons (left). I compare it here with George Rogers (top right) and the original painting. Stained glass (left) 📷 Jelltex All Saints, Maidstone
Comparing a stained glass lamentation scene with another and also with the original painting. They are all the same design but with one or two differences here and there. The dead Jesus lies partly on the ground and partly in a woman's lap surrounded by lamenting women.
