Back at @allsaintsmaidstone.bsky.social today, this time for the KCACR bell ringing district practice session. Lovely bells to ring, and a really good practice session too.

Watched The Hunt for Red October for the first time in 15+ years again and I forgot what a stellar cast features in it. Sam Neil and Tim Curry, who both left us in 2026. And I never realised that Captain Tupolov is played by a younger Stellan Skarsgård.

Earlier in July I rung my first Quarter Peal at Rochester Cathedral. I have posted a short video capturing the audio of the start and end of that quarter which can be found here: youtu.be/RYX6wAWNLAY?... I'll spare you all the full 47 minute long version 😆

Did an R&D experiment in the weekend and we made chorizo inspired mince pork meatballs. Taste wise quite good for a first attempt, certainly can use it in dishes that would be cooked with chorizo. But how to get a denser and firmer binding using natural ingredients for texture?

Having poached chicken legs the day before for some batches of chicken curry, I was had to do something 700ml of home made chicken stock. Say hello to 3.5L of Polish pickled gherkin soup with chunky veg, gherkins (obviously) soured cream and dill. Takes me home to granny's kitchen straight away♥️

Parry's "I was Glad" in Evensong today. Seriously one of the most uplifting and wonderful compositions I have ever heard. Just the opening notes on the organ's high pressure Tuba give me goosebumps every time.

First time ringing for a wedding yesterday. Apart from being an excellent excuse for an extra day of ringing, if ever one wqs needed, it sort of felt great doing something I enjoy doing in the knowledge that it's adding a little bit of extra sparkle to someone's very special day.

It was with great joy we witnessed the opening of the latest addition to Rochester's High Street of independent family run businesses yesterday: C.J. Hook's Fishmongers at 174 High Street. Great store with a super friendly team and amazing produce. A very welcome and long overdue addition.

It's 10 years since I got GTA V, so I decided to play from scratch in the new(ish) Enhanced version. Two things I noticed: I can still laugh my socks off over some of silly and idiotic stuff you can do in GTA. I forgot how enraging it can be when you have to redo missions over and over again.

Visit to All Saints Church, completed in 1398, in Maidstone, Kent today. Fascinating church architecture and interior. Eight under-21s performed in the organ in the KCOA Organ Competition 2026. Great performances and music all around.

We sadly lost my great-uncle Andrzej Januszajtis at the age of 97 yesterday. As I reflect on his long and accomplished life, I come to two conclusions: 1.) He deserves to be called a hero 2.) How much he has influenced me and things I enjoy and find interesting in life. R.I.P. You will be missed

It's National Pie Week or British Pie Week, apparently. Just the excuse I needed to have pie 😀 This is one of those British food items I have come to love and can't live without. Funny how so many countries on this planet came to make some sort of filled pastry dishes.

Had a lovely trip to old city or Canterbury yesterday. Exploring the alleys and twittens, enjoying some great pub food, and finishing off with an choral evensong in Britain's oldest cathedral. Loved the vibe and feel of the city I think I'll definitely visit again this year. #canterbury

Everytime we have to deal with the delivery company Evri, we are reminded just how atrocious the company and their customer service is. Scheduling a collection for a return and communication from Evri is a total disaster. Shame so many retailers use them for delivery.
