Ever get a craving for a specific food, & nothing else will do? Well, you're not alone. In February 1257 Henry III sent a message to Ely, telling the sheriff send him 200 large eels, 1250 medium-sized eels, & 4,000 small eels. And he wanted them ASAP. Takeout fit for a king. 🗃️🧪
Meme. Copperplate engraving of Henry III from 1618, showing the king, in regalia, looking off with interest into the middle distance. He is wearing a rather spiky crown that would appeal to a shrike, and holding a scepter topped with a fleur-de-lis . His clothes look fancy. As they should. He's a fucking king. His beard is fierce, and his hair is wild and leonine. It cups his face in delicately destructive energy. His dark eyebrows are slightly sad looking, and his nose is less sharp than he'd like it. While his hair looks young, his face looks burdened with cares. Which, given his life, makes, sense.

His eyes are slightly sad, and he is looking past your right shoulder, as if someone is coming in the door behind you. But don't worry; nothing in his expression says that the person is here to hurt you. More likely they're going to ask if you know where the bathroom is. It's that kind of look that Henry's throwing.

Meme text reads:
"Kings need eels
That's aal there is to it"
