Fashion of the Day - staying cool on Muni! The big hats, hair clips, loose clothes, and fans are of a style from the days before air conditioning, and well, are still useful today 🌡️🌞 Bay Area, vote Yes on RTM to keep transit running (and San Francisco voters, vote Yes on H to strengthen Muni!)

One of the local Chinese language newspapers today had a feature on the upcoming election. It talked about how population growth doesn't automatically turn into political power unless one votes, and also had charts about voters of Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Konger ancestry. (translated links in replies)
Newspaper article Headline 90%亞太裔選民 打算投票 (90% of AAPI Voters plan to vote)

Below it are bar charts with detailed data on voters of Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Konger ancestry:
The top left shows that among these voters, 54% are Democrats vs 28% Republican, the lower two bars show that this is further split into 64% of women and 44% of men.
Lower left shows that of these voters 64% voted for Kamala Harris vs 31% for Trump, noting that a lot of people who belong to a third party or no party (the gray bar) vote blue.
This is compared to 65% of all AAPI voters, 79% of Black voters, 64% of Latino voters, and 45% of White voters.
The top right shows that of voters of Chinese/Taiwanese/Hong Konger ancestry who were born in the US, 71% are Democrats vs 19% Republicans.
The lower right has data for those who were born abroad (45% Dem), based on year of immigration.
53% of those who immigrated before 1980
46% of those who immigrated 1980-1995
45% of those who immigrated 1995-2010
38% of those who immigrated after 2010

WHEREAS, California has led the nation in protecting transgender and nonbinary
people through anti-discrimination law, shield laws to protect patients and providers,
privacy protections such as the ban on forced outing of students, and the right to
gender-affirming health care — including for youth, for whom being affirmed and
supported leads to dramatically better mental health outcomes and significantly lowers
rates of depression, anxiety, and suicide, according to the American Medical
Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Endocrine Society, and more than
twenty other major health organizations; and
WHEREAS, this past year has seen an unprecedented increase in the Trump
administration’s assault on transgender youth in particular — with proposals to strip
Medicaid coverage for gender-affirming youth care, threats to defund hospitals that
provide it, the elimination of the LGBTQ+-dedicated 988 crisis lifeline, bans on
transgender people from military service, forcing transgender students to use restrooms
designated for their gender at birth, requiring transgender individuals to change their
passports and drivers licenses to designate their gender at birth, and lawsuits against
California's own laws protecting transgender students and student-athletes; and
WHEREAS, incidents of anti-LGBTQ+ hate exceeded 1,000 in 2025, one of the most
dangerous years on record, with transgender people - particularly Black and Latina
transgender women - bearing the greatest burden of violence and poverty;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the California Democratic Party reaffirms its
support of the full dignity, equality, and safety of all transgender and nonbinary
