Always a surreal moment when a new student says they’d already watched FIG before realizing I was their professor. Still humbled that this short—written by yours truly and directed by Ryan Coogler, once on HBO and now on @kanopy.com—continues to find an audience. www.kanopy.com/product/fig

Thrilled to see FIG among the Most Popular Short Films on @kanopy.com—one of my proudest writing projects from my USC MFA days, directed by the one and only Ryan Coogler. Originally on HBO, it found a final home on Kanopy. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. It still means the world to me.🎬

Today is #WorldAutismAwarenessDay, a reminder to listen, understand and create spaces where every voice matters. I'm so proud of my son, diagnosed with apraxia of speech & non-verbal autism at an early age, for all his triumphs—including inspiring our upcoming comic book series HEARD.

Four panels of comic book artwork for HEARD. The top two feature the character Owen using his iPad to draw constellations while his family watches. The next one down shows an SUV parked in a wilderness. And the final panel features Owen looking out the window of the SUV.

Matt & I have been fortunate to place six times in the Nicholl Fellowship, reaching the top 50 SFs, which led to meetings and option deals. It's an amazing resource. I don't know how this news will affect it in the long run, but I do worry when limiting factors are put on the submission process.
