I am hosting a two-day letter-writing campaign to fight the Indiana BMV about gender markers on IDs. Last night I got Presbyterian retirees and the cutest trans 20 year olds together over a table of stationary and homemade cookies. It was heartwarming af.

I love Halloween. I love handing out candy, seeing kids in costumes...it's the best. The packs of roving teens are my favorite, but the tiny kids who are absolutely terrified to speak to me, a stranger, are also really cute.

One of my favorite things about the Art Institute of Chicago is the strong showing of depictions of John the Baptist, and the varying degrees of sexiness thereof. Like, step aside, John the Beloved, we need to look at your man's hot cousin for a second..

John is seated and is nude except for a pale purple cloth draped across his lap. His hair is curly, he is clean shaven, and he is holding a shepherd's staff.
He is very pretty, and his expression looks like he is aware of his sex appeal and is a little bored by it.
There is also a sheep in the painting, but that's not important.

There is a lamb in the painting. The expression on John and the lamb's face give one the impression that maybe they just had a vulnerable conversation and are hoping the other will change the subject.

My favorite part of the day is when I sit in the kitchen with my morning coffee and listen to the soft sounds of mournful discontent coming from my dog, who is fed breakfast at the same exact time every day but believes that human awake=breakfast time, regardless of what the actual hour is.
