Five reasons MetroLink and the R132 Connectivity Project in Swords are interlinked
Comment & Analysis: The R132 Connectivity Project by Fingal County Council is facing heavy backlash and strong anger over traffic delays caused by the works. But regardless of what anybody thinks of the project along what used to be the Swords bypass, in the many videos from councillors, TDs, and others, there's a strange lack of mention that the project is required for MetroLink.

15 years since his passing, and five years since this mysterious notice appeared in the In Memoriam section of the Irish Times. I haven't seen today's paper yet but I wonder were his friends here in Ireland sufficiently on the ball to get the notice in on time.

if I ran the world I'd require every policymaker, urban planner and transport planner to play this game building parking means sacrificing space that could have been used for homes or other nice things. it encourages car ownership and car travel. it means less roadspace for buses, bikes and walking

These days, I'm struck by how the dominant mood on both sides of the Atlantic toward the other is a kind of pity. Europe frets about the US's supposed slide into autocracy; the US about Europe's pusillanimity and immiseration.

I was on the radio yesterday making the point that we shouldn’t just allow Dublin Airport to grow endlessly based on consumer demand without taking other factors into account. Media and government in this country are complicit in deflecting attention from inconvenient truths.
