First Sirius trails of the season 😀 #Astronomy #Astrophotography #Space
A multi-coloured, swirling line against a dark background. These are the colours produced by light from the bright star Sirius passing through our turbulent atmosphere. Moving the camera a little while taking a long exposure of Sirius helps to bring out the rainbow of colours. Taken on 12 October 2026 just before dawn.

#Astrophotography As a child, I always looked at the Pleiades as a small Great Bear. And with my fisrst small newton telescope, I observed this open cluster with fascination. Now as an astrophotographer, it truly blows my mind, the dust clouds are so beautiful. Universe is a real mind blowing place
À patch of cosmic dust and gaz, in the blue-ish, forming like a sheriff star. In the dust seven very bright and blue stars, that arebilluminating this Nebula.

Tonight was my first session with my new Seestar S50 Pro smart telescope. I got this to add to my portable gear when I'm on the road. It's not as good as a dedicated rig, but the results are still impressive to me. Read the Alt text for more info (Helix Nebula). #astronomy #astrophotography
Helix Nebula, as processed by the Seestar S50 Pro. I haven't got the EQ wedge yet (it's in the mail), so I am limited to 10 sec exposures in AZ. This image was constructed by the scope using 92 exposures. So just over 15 minutes of data. I could see this in real time on my tablet being integrated and enhanced, which was pretty cool.Helix Nebula, as processed by me in PixInsight using the raw files the Seestar S50 Pro took. This is a very basic PI process as I didn't want to spend too much time on the image - just enough to see if I could get more out of the data than the scope's internal processing.

And from the above, it's certainly possible. For 15 min of data, I consider this a great result.

Nebulae in another galaxy! This is my first new image for a while. I decided to buy a Wanderer electronic tilt adjuster to make it easier when swapping telescopes, so was keen to try it out. With the Small Magellanic Cloud rising higher, I captured NGC 346, NGC 371, & surrounds. 🔭 #astrophotography
Nebulae in the Small Magellanic Cloud. At bottom centre is NGC346, shining brightly in blue (OIII) and white and appearing to fan out upwards. Above & to the right is the smaller brain-like (but still blue) NGC371. Surrounding them are many blobs of Ha (red). 8 hours of exposure with a Skywatcher MN190, ZWO 2600mc & Antlia ALP-T dual-band filter in Bortle 8 skies..
