I got my friend's farewell letter they wrote just before taking their own life and it sucks. Absolutely dogshit goodbye. They start with condolences for my grandma and end with "take care, sweetheart" I want to make fun of them for it to their face. And I can't. And it sucks.

D&D is a very specific kind of fantasy, much weird than High Fantasy. There's numerous lizardfolk and space hamsters and psionics. Also everybody pays in gold for some reason.

There's a female character who pretends to be a man for a chunk of the story. Passages of the cute faerie trying on clothes or taking a bath read more wistful than lecherous. And so on.

It's so interesting to read White Plume Mountain (a novel set in Greyhawk based on the adventure) knowing the author transitioned later in life. The main male character turned himself into a machine for justice, leaving his original name. Masculinity, even positive, is still dehumanizing here.

Nah, he didn't understand the assignment. Tolkien wrote a whole thing about how his work should be translated, and Łoziński either ignored it or never even heard of it. For example, "Baggins" is supposed to be related to a bag, a sack. He shouldn't be a Bagosz, he should be Torbicki.
