Helluhraun í kringum Helgafell við Hafnarfjörð. Helstu dæmi helluhrauns eru á Íslandi og Hawai'i, þar sem það kallast Pāhoehoe. Síðan 1883 hefur havaíska nafnið verið almenna nafnið fyrir þessa hraungerð á ensku.

Our new article on sugar kelp genomics across western Iceland is now out. We find substructure across a North-South and inner- to outer-bay gradient. SNP association with key environmental variables suggest local adaptation and/or density dependent selection is having an effect. rdcu.be/ffacn

Thing I learned today: Seal Lice vector seal heart worms! I don't know of another louse species that vectors a nematode. Do any other entofriends? www.nature.com/articles/s41...
A diagram of the life cycle of the seal heart worm. The first few stages of the worm develop in the louse, and then the nematodes move to seals and develop into larger adults. Seal lice are delightfully round, but less delightfully apparently transmit heart worms.

The first article from last year's expedition on the famous Polarstern that I participated in has been published.
