In 2008 to 2010 the wefare bill was 12.4% of Gdp. Now it is 10.7%, but politivians and media keep pretending it is getting higher. I am sick of all the victim blaming.

Welfare changes under debate include ending key disability benefit for under-25s
Exclusive: Plan under discussion involves intensive package of support to help young people into employment Ministers are working up sweeping plans for welfare changes including scrapping a key disability benefit for under-25s and replacing it with a multibillion-pound package of support to get into work, the Guardian has learned. Multiple Whitehall sources said the package of changes under debate was much bigger than previously thought, as Andy Burnham’s government hopes to persuade more people on benefits back into work. We've had half a century of privatising
profit and nationalising debt. More
than £70bn of tax payers money paid
to water companies passed straight to
shareholders. Massive bailouts for the
banks never recouped. £Billions of PPE
fraud written off.

But Doris down the road getting £9
more than she needs not to starve or
freeze is why the treasury is broke.

Spending money we supposedly don't have to kill innocent people, in order to cut billions from our own economy and encourage violent fascist agitators Sure, it's expensive - but at least it's also a moral horror, directly contrary to our stated goals and ultimately political suicide! 🫡

Well, well, well - if it isn’t the consequences of our own actions. It would appear that migrants are not, in fact, the fiscal drain we’ve been told they are by years if we go by the £4bn to £6.5bn shortfall that’s been caused by the precipitous drop in numbers under this government. Funny that.

The Times - which has v much joined in the rightwing clamour to reduce immigration - now reporting that Mahmood’s “success” has cost the economy £4- to £7Bn. Would they like to now honestly confirm that fewer people = less spending power for all. There’s a high price to pay for this nasty obsession.
Patrick Maguire
Chief Political Commentator Oliver Wright Policy Editor

Falling migration numbers could cost the chancellor as much as £7bn in fiscal headroom as he writes his first budget, The Times has been told.
Government insiders believe that John Healey, who already faced an uphill battle to balance the books next month, is likely to have an even bigger challenge after immigration undershot projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
The Institute for Fiscal Studies think tank estimated last month that the success of Shabana
Mahmood's
reforms, which have cut net migration to the low hundreds of thousands, could cost Healey some £4bn.

In Scotland the BBC must have a quota of interviewing English people. Apparently only 10% are, but every article, no matter how remote has an English person commenting on it. Sometimes only English people. The BBC has an agenda and it's not to benefit the public.
