Yes, very true. Although the nice thing about Cathedrals and CBD churches is you can slip in and out and they seem to be increasing their congregations in many places. So that probably reflects the factor you're pointing to as well.

Yeah! Back in the day big families would often lead to a couple of priests and a nun or some similar configuration. And clans eg my first parish priest had two uncles who were priests and a sister who was a nun.

That's not isolated. The Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament closed two churches in Australian cities, consolidating in just Melbourne and Sydney. They're much loved. I don't know about Melbourne but in Sydney St Peter Julian's has really revived with Mass in Chinese, Korean and Indonesian and new
