Hey everyone, just a quick note to say in the coming days I'm going to shift everything over to my new main account, @ajsadauskas I'll probably keep this ( @aj ) account around mostly as an archive, but it won't be my main Fediverse account. In the meantime, I'll mostly post from new account.

I’m not closing up shop. I still enjoy posting media and chatting with people, but trying to be a dedicated advocacy entity is exhausting, and I honestly don't think people value that rigid focus anymore. Honestly, I don't like it in other accounts anymore.

Things are a mess right now, seemingly everywhere all at once. We're mostly on here for distraction. I'd rather lean into that. Instead of forcing myself to stay strictly on-topic, this space is going to be more me, Brandon, and a bit less just "Fietser."

The bikes, urbanism, and infrastructure design aren't going away, but the narrow focus has to broaden for my own sanity. I know this is a big account and some folks might leave because of the shift. That's completely fine. Thanks to everyone who sticks around.

A couple other things: 1. As the former mayor of Bogotá said, the best cities are west the rich and poor both ride public transport. 2. Public transport is the great equalizer. There’s only a single class of services unlike airlines or intercity trains. All people rub shoulders on a train or bus.

Melbourne's Swanston Street, Town Hall Square, and St Paul's Cathedral. #Melbourne #city #photography #Victoria #Australia

The sky is purple and light blue for sunset. The focus is Swanston Street, which is the main semi-pedestrianised north-south street through the Melbourne CBD. In the bottom-left foreground, two cyclists are riding through.

Swanston Street is lined with winter trees with no leaves and street lights. It has tram tracks with overhead wiring down the middle.

In the middle of the shot is the glass canopy for the new Town Hall Metro station, a modern hotel, and a neo Gothic sandstone cathedral called St Paul's.

Along the left border of the photo is the corner of Melbourne Town Hall.
