DNA gyrase is an essential enzyme that helps resolve positive supercoils. In vitro estimates indicate that a single gyrase enzyme resolves 1 supercoil/second. So how does it then keep up with replication in living cells that generate ~100 supercoils every second? We think we found why. 🧵
