I think it's going to vary wildly depending on the age and specs of the system. Some IFE seatback screens claim to have USB-PD output of 100 watts. 60 watts has become pretty typical. though some are down to 10 watts or so. thankfully, lots of USB-C ports are actually labelled now!

Please enjoy this minute long video of @governor.ny.gov struggling and failing to get one of @mta.info's new turnstiles to let her pass into her own press conference about the new turnstiles 🤣

HMMMMMMM. Last time we saw a Dash-8 Q400 fly into LGA unexpectedly, Air Canada announced new YTZ-LGA service the next day. So I wonder why a Porter Q400 just flew into LGA this morning. Do it, Mr. Porter! bsky.app/profile/airl...

Did JetBlue make a huge opposie? It looks like many (all?) of its flights were removed from the schedule for October 13-14, triggering cancelations and auto rebooking to adjacent days. I’m seeing no flights for sale those days, or even availability in ExpertFlyer 😲 www.reddit.com/r/jetblue/co...

I pretty regularly see tourist looking people hanging out with Citibike e-bikes, maybe unknowingly paying by the minute. But just now a girl parks her e-bike in CVS and gets on the back of the not moving pharmacy line. Are there Citibike plans that include unlimited e-bike usage or something?!

Wait, is there seriously a flex post protected HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE LANE on Central Park South?! How have I never noticed this before and also WTAF. Why isn’t this a bi-directional protected bike lane? And why are horse drawn carriages even still a thing?

Another totally normal @united.com flight in the books. This 737-8, despite being just 3 years old, is starting to show some signs of aging. I pre-ordered the Chicago Patty Melt by Jeff Mauro and Pork Mojo Burrito. The “patty melt” was a cheeseburger but with worse bread. The burrito was good!

Good afternoon and welcome on board @united.com flight UA1708, with nonstop service from SEA to EWR. At some point since my last time here United moved from the nice A gates to the awful B gates. There’s just not enough space down here for modern aircraft. Anyway, it’s a 737-8 on the job today.

What’s up with this huge fleet of @kingcounty.gov Metro electric buses in the South Base lot? I never saw any of these in service this week.

Eventually, those green fuselages bloom into flying 737s. There goes what will become a United 737-9 someday soon.

Walking in downtown Seattle when suddenly… two fighter jets blast by overhead after a flyby at the Seahawks game. It was so unbelievably loud, my ears hurt and my watch alerted me to a “loud environment.” I hate this so much.

So how does one get back to Seattle from Everett? There are bus options, but that’s no fun. What IS fun is taking a rare weekend @sound-transit.bsky.social Sounder service, operating Seahawks game day trains! What a lucky break. The train (first of 2) went out packed. A very typical bi-level coach.

More 737 Quality Train Content™?! We caught up with the train just north of Seattle and there were even more there. In all my visits to Seattle I’ve never seen this.

This is it, the Quality Train Content™ I’ve always wanted to post. A BNSF freight train passing through Everett, WA with several Boeing greenies on their way from Wichita, Kansas to Renton to become 737s!

I saw an Amtrak employee running Cellmapper (IYKYK) on multiple phones and asked what he’s up to. 5G is bad along the route, and unavailable in Canada. So @amtrak.com is testing adding Starlink to augment coverage. I can’t tell what connection is what since it’s all aggregated but it worked well.

Other #PaxEx niceties are a cafe car that features a Starbucks-style microwave that better heats food. Staff are excited about it. There’s a pickup window for future in-app ordering. The digital signal ACTUALLY WORKS, it’s pretty but audio a bit clunky. Seat reservations for coach coming one day.

I mixed up the last post. Green accent seats are Business Class (2-1 layout) and red seats are Coach 2-2 layout). The business class seats have some additional comforts and features like passenger facing USB-C ports. Here’s Business Class.

Here’s a look at @amtrakcascades.wsdot.wa.gov coach cars. It seems @amtrak.com learned from its mistakes made in the Midwest & NextGen Acela cars and refined it all. It’s great. Seats are actually comfortable with true articulated recline , huge windows, USB-C ports, functional signage. Wow!

Good morning and welcome aboard @amtrakcascades.wsdot.wa.gov train 516, featuring the brand new Airo trainset still in its first week of service. I been writing about this massive Amtrak fleet renewal since 2021 so I’m very excited to get on board and see it! runwaygirlnetwork.com/2021/07/amtr...

Lunch time! Lots of pre-order options. I went with Italian style braised short rib, which was good but missing a bit of flavor. We also ordered the chicken breast but that wasn’t available for some reason. Got the Cuban style short rib instead and that was better. Also got 2,500 miles for the mixup.

That was as seamless a 1 hour and 20 minute connection at ORD can go. Has lunch in the United Club, walked over to the next gate, we pushed back a minute early and went straight to the runway. Doesn’t get better than that! Well, my originally booked nonstop flight out of EWR would have been nice.

Good afternoon and welcome on board United flight UA1660, with nonstop service from ORD to SEA. It’s another 737-800, but with a newer product. Oh, and I paid for a First Class upgrade. We’ve got Starlink and live TV on this aircraft, but oddly the screens aren’t offering the ability to log-in.

Jason Rabinowitz @airlineflyer.net · 01/10/2026
My connecting flight to SEA is out of ORD’s G gates, which is not where you want to be departing from. Spirit sold these gates off to United for $30M right before its demise, now a select for United departures a day are subjected to…this. These gates are common use so there’s no United niceties.

Jason Rabinowitz @airlineflyer.net · 01/10/2026
Hello from ORD! I thought United’s seatback screens would provide a bit more personalized information for connections, but it just lists everyone’s connection which is nothing new for airlines. The iOS app, which may even have too much info these days, is doing its best to guide me to my next gate.

Good morning and welcome on board United flight UA1310 with nonstop service from LGA to…wait…I can’t get to SEA nonstop from LGA. I can’t remember the last time I had a domestic connecting itin. I’m going through ORD and seeing how @united.com does. First up is this 737-800 in Star Alliance livery.

The biggest unsubstantiated fear the Adams admin and other pols made was that the Ashland Place bike lane would somehow destroy Brooklyn Academy of Music, that the bike lane is incompatible with its curb requirements But here we are in reality and this may be the cleanest bike lane detour citywide

Whoa what is @nyc-dot.bsky.social doing on Jay Street at Myrtle? It was milled for repaving but it looks like they're installing some sort of actual concrete road division. Can't tell exactly, but this may be concrete for a real protected bike lane!? @nyc.streetsblog.org you hear anything on this?

More premium competition in the US market, and Alaska's new premium kick will bring suites to its upcoming 737-10. 12 Aurora Suites up front (reverse herringbone, facing the window!), 12 Premium Reserve seats, and economy seats with IFE screens. But yea, agree with @wandrme.paxex.aero's take here

Suspensions, delayed trains, huge gaps in service displayed on screens

You’d think maybe LIRR would divert Long Beach trains elsewhere like Far Rockaway instead of just canceling them the entire day and terribly reducing service elsewhere on the line but nahhhhh just canceled all day.

Is this the worst departure line I’ve ever seen at JFK? I’m counting about *50* aircraft waiting to depart. Partially due to the very strong wind tonight, but also this LATAM 767 that apparently found itself on a closed taxiway and had to be removed somehow.

Sure, Google Docs. Go on and tell me how I should replace the word "unimpressive" with "impressive."
Blue squiggle appears under the word unimpressive and the dialog box suggests to replace it with the word impressive

I have used the Mamdani toilet! Are we calling it that? It’s great! Scanned a QR code which triggered an SMS that opened the door. It was immaculate inside, maybe because there were three employees monitoring it at that moment. This is a super busy area and bus layover, so it was badly needed 👍👍👍

Poof! A new bus boarding island and stop shelter has appeared! On the scale of @nyc-dot.bsky.social things this happened at warp speed. These half-width bus shelters they’re using at reconfigured bus stops aren’t great, though. Better than nothing, but…
