A4 #LTHEchat Reflecting on my values, achievements, and dreasm for the future. Talking with colleagues, union staff, mentors, psychologist (we have an Employee Assistance Program), a coach (in my first early career redundancy experience). In time, identifying lessons I have learnt.

A3 #LTHEchat Connecting with union colleagues was a lifesaver in terms of wellbeing. Formal meetings on understanding the enterprise agreement, change process and responding to proposals. Informal meetings to emote, feel connected and discuss options for the future.

A2 #LTHEChat It is hard, emotional work. By the third time round, I knew I would feel sick, struggle to sleep and be emotional. With others reporting to me, I wanted to support them through the experience. My entire job became managing the change and uncertainty.

One of my all-time favourites from the #SadChairsOfAcademia archive! (Tumblr: sadchairsofacademia.tumblr.com ) #AcademicSky #PhDsky #Academia
Caption on image: “Getting ready now to vacate the Merewether Building in prep for big move to new Social Sciences building. Leaving behind the rather spooky and never-to-be-sat-in chair of Prof RN Spann, Chair of Public Administration 1954-81.”

University of Sydney, Australia. From Twitter’s @allanmcconnell4 (via @anika_gauja).

Actual #SadChairsOfAcademia is a brown leather armchair with a seat almost denuded of leather and scraps peeling to the floor. Background of old-fashioned wooden cupboards and a random sink.
