Delighted that our new paper on addressing the false dichotomy of autonomy and preservation of life in severe anorexia nervosa has been published. We are challenging unhelpful myths, and offer constructive solutions to clinicians and lawyers www.sciencedirect.com:5037/science/arti...
This paper is to help clinicians and lawyers to understand the complexities related to treatment refusal and capacity in severe anorexia nervosa. We need to support patients as they can improve even after many years of illness

The end of a few days at Woodspring Priory, Somerset. Of all the Landmark Trust properties that we’ve stayed at, few can match this former Augustinian Priory for grandeur. Significant portion of the church attached, as a ‘museum’, to the the spacious living quarters. A wind-swept, memorable weekend.
View of the Priory, with the nave, crossing tower, and remains of the cloister wall on right, and later, lower range (former farmhouse) attached to NW corner of nave. Greyish sky, green lawn, tree to left edge of view.View of nave and tower (65 feet) of the Priory from S. Bedrooms located on what is now first floor of nave. Original architecture of 15th century - Perpendicular Gothic style windows - with later, ground floor windows inserted after the Dissolution of the monasteries. Blue sky with dappled clouds. Lawn and yew tree to left.Interior of the ‘museum’ part of the Priory: under the tower (crossing), restored fan vaulting and upper part of south-facing, four light window.Information board in the museum part of the Priory: outline of building history, 13th century to Dissolution of the Monasteries, with reconstructions and cut away ground plan.

Some of the contents:
Woodspring Priory developed over several centuries and reached its greatest extent around 1530. We do not know what the earliest chapel looked like, but the surviving buildings contain fabric from the 13th-century onwards. Extensive archaeology helps us understand what the priory looked like at various phases in its development. This museum room is in part of the nave and the 'crossing under the tower.
Both date from the 13th century.

The main altar was in the chancel of the priory church, which extends beyoed the tower to the east. The 13th-century chancel was much larger than the nave but it seems it was destroyed by a disastrous fire in the 14th century. Today even its replacement has long since disppeared. The basic shell of the nave survives today though is much altered and had extra floors inserted when the site became a farmhouse.

Woodspring Priory was at its richest and most developed around 1530, just before the Dissolution. The priory had recovered from the setbacks of fire and the Black Death in the 14th century, and had received generous endowments.

Through the 15th century, it was redeveloped in the Perpendicular style. A north aisle was added to the nave. In 1536 work was still going on to build fine lodgings for the prior leading off the northwest corner. The adjacent west front, the main entrance to the church, was embellished with statues of saints and fine carvings.

The tower was its current height. A gatehouse, perhaps doubling as a guest house, stood in front of the priory complex. A fine infirmary with its own chapel had been built at the southeast corner of the site, next to a refectory (or dining hall).
The chancel, however, was now only about half the length of the original 13th-century one, destroyed earlier in a fire or other disaster.

Composite shows four Hubble images in quarters. At top left is a crisp view of Mars in shades of orange, blues, and browns. At top right is planetary nebula NGC 2899, which is shaped like a single macaroni noodle, with its central torus appearing semi-transparent and blue and green, and its top and bottom edges in orange. At bottom left is a tiny portion of the Rosette Nebula. Very dark gray material shaped like a triangle takes up the center. At bottom right is barred spiral galaxy NGC 5335 with a milky yellow center that forms a bar surrounded by multiple blue star-filled spiral arms that wrap up counterclockwise.

The key chart right now: Usually US economic pain is cushioned by falling bond yields and a strengthening dollar, which mean lower interest rates and more spending power for consumers. This time we’re seeing the opposite, meaning the pain will be amplified.

Painted, cardboard volcano, erupting (bicarbonate of soda reacting with vinegar) in a prehistoric landscape with plastic dinosaurs and vegetation. Moss from garden. We thought the pterodactyl at the top would be swept away by the ‘lava’, but it flowed the other way.
