What if the biggest barrier to changing jobs may not be the labour market, but your contract? The #OECD #EmploymentOutlook2026 shows non-compete clauses are widespread and can hold back wages & productivity. 🔒💡🚀 🔗 www.oecd.org/en/topics/po...

As #Canada 🇨🇦 debates Bill C-31, our new OECD paper provides the first comprehensive evidence on #noncompete clauses in Canada. 29–39% of workers are covered; 7% report being prevented from changing jobs. 🔗 www.oecd.org/content/dam/... @oecdsocial.bsky.social @oecd-ocde.bsky.social

#Noncompete clauses were meant to protect trade secrets, not lock workers. Our new #OECD evidence suggests they're widespread, limiting job mobility, holding back productivity. Time to rethink the fine print?👇 oecdecoscope.blog/2026/07/07/t... @oecdsocial.bsky.social @oecd-ocde.bsky.social

The fine print that follows you out the door: non-compete clauses are spreading and holding back growth
The prevalence of non-compete clauses is surprisingly high, with adverse consequences for economic dynamism, wages and productivity. This brings into closer focus recent attempts to restrict the us…

We all agree that #skills are the answer to many labor market challenges, from remaining useful in the age of AI to navigating transitions. Yet, in practice, #training take-up remains stubbornly low. With @raffasadun.bsky.social, M. Leonardi, A. Delfino & S. Inferrera we studied why 👇

The Economist makes a good point in warning that, at some point, high may be too high, and that we should look beyond the effects on employment. But, I don’t think there is (yet) any consensus that we reached the maximum as they seem to imply in their piece.

The European Court of Justice has delivered its much awaited judgment on the EU Minimum Wage Directive. The Court upheld the directive’s underlying principles but annulled two provisions. 🧵

🔻The Court of Justice of the EU has upheld the Directive on MinimumWages but annulled parts of Article 5. The ECJ found that certain provisions on wage adequacy criteria and indexation mechanisms interfered directly with pay, exceeding the EU’s powers under the Treaties!

The directive stands, but Denmark gets partial victory in landmark case on minimum wage at European Court of Justice. Changes to some articles. Denmark is ordered to pay 2/3 of the costs. #minimumwage

Bella, viva e partecipata presentazione de #laquestionesalariale ieri a Roma.

"Arbeit macht frei" - work makes one free, was a cynical welcome at Auschwitz I. SS guards often told prisoners of #Auschwitz that the only way out from the camp was through the chimney of the crematorium. Learn about the sign: buff.ly/4gNusbg (Photo: buff.ly/4geYVP3)
A black and white photograph of the infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei" sign at the entrance gate of a concentration camp. The sign, with its iron lettering, is partially obscured by a worn and chipped wooden barrier bearing a "Halt" warning sign. In the background, bare tree branches stretch against a cloudy, overcast sky, evoking a somber and reflective mood.

Eighty years ago today, over 7,000 prisoners of the German Nazi camp #Auschwitz, including some 700 children, were liberated by the soldiers of the Soviet Army. 1,689 days of murder, pain, suffering, and humiliation were over. Today, we all remember. We must keep remembering.

🏭 High-emission industries account for almost 80% of emissions but employ only 7% of workers. As jobs in these sectors decline, new opportunities arise - but not always in the same sectors, regions or occupations. How do we bridge the gap? 👉 www.oecd.org/en/publicati... #NetZero #ClimateAction
