If you watch a lot of local TV news in the morning like I do, you really see how traffic violence is background noise in our daily lives. Crashes in the traffic report, stories about pedestrians being hit, cars into buildings, road rage. The danger on our roads is a constant feature.

Perhaps there is a distinction between comfort game and cozy game that people should try to make. Like, Elden Ring is my go-to comfort game as an easy pick when my brain is tired (randomizer go brrr) but I don't think I can go so far as to call it cozy lol

So you decided the best way to counter the narrative of the whiney boomers who were being over dramatic and exhausting was to do exactly what they were doing over here as well? Nice 👍 way to go. You're clearly Not Like The Other Boomers.

one of the most frustrating things about there being “no jobs” is that we all walk around and see the work that needs to be done. our cities are crumbling, our people need help, our world is dying. there’s so much work to be done, if only it were good for the balance sheet

She fucking killed an entire family while speeding in her Mercedes SUV and they’re not going to even take her license away??
On Friday, realizing that Chan was considering a sentence that did not include prison time for Lau, the siblings of the two deceased parents pleaded for Lau to be ordered to home detention and
"meaningful" community service. They also asked the judge to consider revoking her driver's license.

I often wonder how many of these are bots, especially when they seem to have no other personality or talking points. But even if they're not, they might as well be and they deserve about as much of my attention. Either way they just seem like bait designed to waste peoples time and energy 😩

Yes that is the reality of the situation but would all the millions of people who voted for him agree? Perhaps you can sleep on this and gain some insight into how people view their representatives and their actions differently based on if they agree with what they're doing or not.

Would it help if they said "benevolent dictator" instead? Same idea. 🤷‍♂️ We all like the people who quickly do the things we want. We simply don't all agree on what those things should be. Some people like Trump because he does their things fast and we like Mamdani because he does ours.

The solution is never going to be placing blame on pedestrians for being hit. Proven solutions: -Narrow roadways -Short crossing distances -Protected infrastructure -Auto-enforcement cameras -Pedestrian islands -Curb bumpouts -4to3 conversions -Bollards -Boulevard 🌳🌳🌳 -Speed limiters on 🚗 🚙 🛻

This person said we all think "driving is a moral failing" and that's not how I view things. I am mad that we have created a system where many people have to drive, or think driving is the only safe or efficient option to get where they need to go. (If you drive a lifted Ram though, fuck you)

It's not that every individual driver is a murderous asshole (I'm not!). It's that car dependency as a whole is dangerous. It's that cars are deadly when they hit people. It's that our society prioritizes drivers above all else. It's about a system that is dangerous for anyone not in a car.
The anti-car brigade is really fucking weird.

The way they act like someone who drives regularly kills babies and kicks old ladies down the stairs is really fucking bizarre.

My in-laws were bemoaning the cost of their cars. They live in urban sprawl where there is little around them. On one income, which is about $40k a year they have their insurance due for their two cars. $2700. Cars keep people poor and kill cohesive communities

10% of all trips and growing rapidly as the infrastructure improves doesn't seem like "not many" to me. 🤷‍♀️ We're tax paying citizens too and bringing more business to the downtown core. Don't you want less cars on the road "getting in your way"? No one hates cars and traffic more than other drivers.

I'll hold judgment until the trade negotiations are finalized. We don't currently know what this may have bought us behind the scenes in exchange. As much as I support taxing the hell out of these bastards, this might not have been the hill to die on when compared to the whole trade war. 🤷‍♀️

If we’re being honest, the biggest threat to urban livability isn’t density or height. It’s the noise, danger, pollution, and wasted space that comes from prioritizing cars above all other modes of transport.

Cars dont buy things, people do. Businesses close to bike infrastructure see higher customer counts, this has been studied and proven over and over again. Also, you want to know what actually creates car congestion? Not giving people the option to do anything but drive everywhere.
