Sitting in a cafe and I'm curious about whether eliminating the headphone jack from smartphones contributed to more people using the loudspeaker for their calls. I can appreciate how some people might prefer it for calls. Respectfully, the time and place to use it is probably not in a cafe.

There are many "worst things" about ADHD but the one where you can get so depleted from being hungry that fixing the problem feels too hard is DEFINITELY ON THE LIST. Imagine driving somewhere and suddenly you're just. Outta fuel. No petrol station for yonks. No indication that you were nearly out.

Suffering does not necessarily make your art better, but as long as you're suffering, you may as well get some art out of it.

Most recent lil cross stitch project. I do the majority of these things on the train. Been a more productive activity than anything else I've managed so far. The TARDIS is from circa 2013. The others are recents.

Today was long, and I am pretty fried, but the vibes were immensely improved by the woman with an Amazon parrot on her shoulder in Officeworks. It's 6:45pm, but that's a whole parrot just chilling and she's just given it stationery to hold in its beak.

I know that in the scheme of history, dates just exist, That in the scheme of an individual's history, dates have significance, That one date can be significant to two people for different reasons without the overlap being significant, And today I read about a clergyman who died the day I was born.

Continuing in the tradition of forgetting to take "before" pictures, and spent a couple hours today clearing more of the overgrown garden away from the lemon tree. There's a lot more of it that is visible and accessible now.

Most recent cross stitch finished and framed, and now I just have to find somewhere good to put it. Slap bang on top of the calendar feels a little messy, even if we're far enough through the year that it doesn't obscure August.

3/4 done, and the pattern for TMBTE is nearly done. Figuring out how to cross stitch round or complex things is not a simple task. Will I have another crack at #4 when it's done? Maybe.

If you are commissioning an artist, and want a specific pose, don't run to genAI to try and make it for you. Draw a stick person. Stick person poses are beloved among all artists. We can see exactly what you want. Do not fear sending the stick person. The stick person is magical.

The advice for parking on the street in Glebe is to not have anything on your car seats so the car is not interesting. However, today was the last day of cleaning and handing keys to my old place over. So the car is full of garbage instead. Different kind of camoflauge, I guess.

I been invited to a friend's place and one kid was doing AI on their tablet. Told them that it's bad and the father asked me why. Explained and also said real art have more soul. He wanted to make a dinosaur playing basket-ball, I drew this for him. They loved it so much, the dad paid me in the end
A traditional illustration of an anthropomorphic dinosaur playing basket-ball. He looks at the viewer while playing.

The result of an illustration I did for a kid while explaining why this is better than the AI art they tried to do on their tablet.

Also, this is his result after many tries! Told him how to hold the pen and let the hand wander over the paper for better line quality. It looks pretty good and he can't believe he did that himself! That's the magic of art! Hope he can continue if he likes it and who knows, become an artist too!
A small illustration/ scribble of a dinosaur playing basket-ball.

Illustration made by a 8 years old kid that never drew much before. The result is pretty good after many tries.

I met the kid today and to my surprise he still draws now and then! So I asked him to draw the dinosaur playing basket-ball again, to see the progresses he made And wow, look at the evolution! This makes me so happy That's why teaching art values is important, AI could never make this happen.
An illustration of a dinosaur playing Basket-ball by a 9 year old kid.

A year later, showing how art evolve with time and how important it is to keep the creativity going to inspire younger generations to try and evolve.

I helped him with advices for the proportions but everything else was made by himself.

Invisible labour is removing the spiders from the house without drawing your arachnophobic housemate's attention to it. This is not in relation to any particular bug or housemate. There have been many of both. I'd briefly forgotten that it was a positive quality to mention when share house hunting

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
