I was going for President Sheridan. I think I hit “random over-dressed guy” instead. Still, having fun at Speyer. Not many places you can hang out with cosplayers and a Buran.

More cool aerospace concept art, this time from a vintage pack of cards for the game I knew growing up as a “Top Trumps”. Amusingly, in German the game is called “Top Ass”.

A current pet hate of mine is whimsical names for nuclear weapons. “Portable star”, “Bottled sunshine”, and the like. These things are absolutely horrific and not to be trivialised. youtu.be/fCXXzPcwj3c?...

Genuine question: Is there some reason it’s not possible to say to tech platforms “If you pay for content, you’re legally a publisher”? Or “If a video encourages people to buy something, it’s a broadcast ad”? Then apply regulations, taxes, etc accordingly? That would seem a bare minimum to me.

We had a mobile video store come by in a white van once a week when I was a kid. You could rent whatever was in the van or, if he didn’t have it, order a movie for next week. This seemed totally legit to me at the time. Decades later, I finally realised why my parents called him “Dodgy Dave”…
