I do like a Wetherspoons pint and the food is ok for the price. Sitting here in Huntingdon I do wonder why people think it’s a great place to bring grandparents and young children for a family day out. I suppose I’m just getting old.

Hawkstone beer is being advertised as "hard to make, easy to drink". So hard to make they've had to get Tennant's to make their lager for them. So easy to drink, because it's like Tennant's Lager

Buckden Towers & blue skies! 😍 Once a palace of the Bishops of Lincoln, this impressive place was visited by various monarchs over the years, including; Henry III, Edward I & Richard III. Katherine of Aragon stayed here after Henry annulled their marriage, & he later visited with Catherine Howard.

@moongazerale.bsky.social a tasty pint of Good Old Hares going down nicely. Dark-ish, not too heavy and very seasonable. I may need another before I peddle home via the chippy. 🍻🚲

Always nice to take a coffee break by the sea. Today’s stop, Walcott, North Norfolk.

For the first time in ages I spent a day working in north Norfolk. No pictures of the wonderful countryside but at least I managed to pick up something wonderful.

I watched the local news last night, for the first time it hit me that we have 15 months of banal local football season results to come. It’s so depressing, I may have to stop watching Anglia News.

Funny enough, Peterborough (Sh)City Council’s decision to screw up the Queensgate roundabout underpass has stopped me walking from the station into town to support local businesses.

Im not a big reader of books, they just don’t relax me and I’ve no patience for them when I’m at home. I have a lot of time on my own at work, podcasts can be a bit hit or miss so I thought I’d give some audiobooks a try. I’m currently really enjoying this one. I really like Sue’s work.

Why do we keep saying that Henry VIII had six wives? Yet according to English law he only had three. People need to learn the difference between an annulment and a divorce.

A bit different since I last visited Lyveden 20 odd years ago, although it’s still not finished! Lyveden Manor now added the the ‘New Bield’, good to be able to get a cuppa.

I have a £5 bet with a mate I won’t live past 50 (I lost £20 when I passed 40, he did buy a round of drinks with the winnings). I’m really unsure if I want to win or lose this one - I have 3 months to the day to decide.

Half day today. We had a look around the great 80’s exhibition at Peterborough Museum followed by pizza. Then finally popped into Home (new Stoneworks) and had CD a chat with Steve. I like what he’s done with the place. 👍🏻

I’m not Farage’s biggest fan. But if I’m being honest, a guy to stand down and then stand in the by-election and let the locals decide shows a ‘touch’ of integrity.

@trainsongscentral.bsky.social this is always a great listen. When I bought it Dave included a really nice note. I remember his songs sung by Brett Stevens on the BBC label, my grandad had a copy I used to listen to a lot.

I completely forgot about Huntingdon’s history festival this weekend and the Roman’s up on Castle Hill. I also intended to visit Fotheringhay church to seek out Richard, Duke of York. Definitely Fotheringhay next weekend (and the 80’s exhibition at Peterborough Museum).
